George Karl Makes Return to Practice

Denver Nuggets head coach George Karl made a long-awaited return to practice with the Denver Nuggets. Karl has been battling cancer of the throat and neck since being first diagnosed since half-way through last season. His treatment kept him from coaching the Nuggets in the NBA playoffs, but the 59-year-old coach never thought of never coaching again. The cancer is now in remission and Karl has got the green light from his doctors to return to work. Having lost a significant amount of weight, Karl told the media that his workload will gradually increase. The players were delighted to see their coach back at practice after such a long spell out of the gym. Although the team is dealing with the controversy of star player Carmelo Anthony possibly being traded, Karl returning practice certainly brightened the spirit.

Denver Nuggets may not trade their forward Anthony

Carmelo Anthony, a two time All-Star forward of the Denver Nuggets NBA team, will be playing for the Nuggets in the next season as well according to Carmelo’s Agent Calvin Andrews. But all this will only be finalized when the agent, Anthony and the Nuggets think tank meet on Monday. If the outcome of the meeting is not fruitful to the Anthony camp, then he might consider a possible trade. The 24 year old Carmelo Anthony struggled with his form this season and the Nuggets management will consider all these aspects before taking a final call on the situation. There is no doubt that the NBA fans will be booking their tickets well in advance to see their favorite teams strike it out in the upcoming season.

Larry Brown Says “Yes” to Michael Jordan

You scratch my back, I scratch yours. This statement best describes the scenario that is the new partnership between Larry Brown and Michael Jordan, both whom are former North Carolina basketball players. Jordan has asked the 67 year old Brown if he is able to take up his ninth NBA coaching stint as head coach for the Charlotte Bobcats, and Brown needed little persuasion to agree. For that he was rewarded a four-year contract. Jordan is relieved as he now has the veteran Brown on his side to revive his sagging career as NBA executive while Brown now has the chance to increase his reputation as Hall of Fame coach. Ironically Brown is now back to where he first started his long standing teaching career.

Brown was hired to replace Sam Vincent who was brought in by Jordan himself even though he has had no prior NBA coaching experience. Vincent was let off last Saturday for failing to do his job well.
